Rev. Charles Anthony Rogers, Sr., a native of Brooklyn, New York, arrived in Albany as a University at Albany undergraduate in 1980. He is currently the Associate Dean of Students at The University at Albany, in the area of student advocacy (Neighborhood Life, Student Care Services, Student- Emergency Fund, Food Pantry, Clothing Pantry and Veteran Affairs). Rev. Rogers received his Bachelor of Science and Masters of Public Administration from the University at Albany in 1985 and 1992. In 2015, he completed his Masters in Divinity seminary education at Payne Theological Seminary located in Xenia, Ohio. Rev. Rogers is currently in training to become a New York State Chaplain to serve in the Corrections and Mental Health fields.
Rev. Charles A. Rogers Sr. is an ordained Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Western New York Annual Conference. He has served as the Senior Pastor at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Utica New York (2014-2018). His affectionate, positive, and carefree personality has made him a spiritual leader among many of his peers who find him to be a man of great character in many areas of his life. Prior to his appointment to St. James, Rev. Rogers served in many capacities at Israel AMEC and the Western New York Conference (WNYC AMEC) for 26 years including: Senior High Sunday School Instructor, Bible Study Leader, Usher, Vice Chair Steward Board, Director of the Youth Step Team, Men’s Day Chair, and the Western New York Conference Directors of Sons of Allen and Christian Education Departments.
